I got home from work today, and Kevin told me about this article in the Erie Review, our local newspaper. It is about Erie’s Tornado Siren. We have one but it doesn’t work and is sitting on the ground.

According to sources it is too expensive to rewire. And this is from a town which recently spent $25,000 on a town sign. (Er Town Monument!)

Here is a classic quote from the article:

Still, Hall said he doesn’t think having an inoperable siren is a major or urgent problem because emergency officials have other options — television and radio broadcasts or reverse-911 calls — to notify homes and businesses of emergency situations.

Amazing!
