I have been meaning to post this for a while. September 23rd Kevin and I went to see the Hamm brothers and various other gymnasts in a Rock ‘n Roll Gymnastics Tour at the Budweiser Event Center, Loveland, Colorado. (Yes I know that this post is quite late, but better late than never.) Kevin had got us front row seats, and after our overdose of Olympics we were very excited to see the Hamms in action.
The average age of the audience was about 13. We saw families with tired fathers and mothers hurrying to keep up with thoroughly over excited pre teens. I must be showing my age but the girls seemed to move around in heavily perfumed groups. There was a lot of giggling too. The other thing that seemed to excite the teens was the appearance of Jo Jo. What, you ask, is Jo-Jo? Jo-Jo is a pre teen pop idol poised to launch herself onto the international stage. She despises being compared to Brittany, and as far as we could tell she didn’t sound a bit like Brittany. I just cringed when she came by – but the girl knew who her fans were (not us.)
The show was high energy, high impact gymnastics performed to please the crowd. There were three apparatus:- the bar, the floor and the high bar. We sat closest to the high bar – those boys could sure fly through the air. Kevin managed to convince the staff that his camera was not professional grade (it wasn’t- it’s the cameraman, stupid!) so luckily he had has camera to take some dramatic pictures.
Here is a link to a review of the Tour.
Paul Hamm won a controversial Gold Medal at the Greek Olympics. A court ruled that Paul did not have to give his medal up. Check out the link to that story here.
